Kumano Kuroemon's work is singular. Hardly anyone dares to fire their kiln at the insane temperatures he strives for. Many pieces he puts in shatter, but what emerges is utterly transformed and reflects the alchemy of wood and fire. His works are hard to come by and well worth the price. This is one of two beer mugs I've ever seen made by him. It is immense and could easily hold a liter. His signature "Kuman Shino" glaze crawls across some facets, then melts in the interior into a cracked dark forest green glass pool. The firing effects on this piece are spectacular and are as good as I've seen on any Kumano piece. It is a masterpiece. Comes with signed box, cloth and paper.
