Philip the Arab served as the Roman emperor from 244 to 249. Philip II, also known as Philip the Younger, born in 237, was the son and heir of Philip the Arab and Marcia Otacilia Severa. Historical accounts suggest both Philip the Arab and Philip II perished in a 249 battle against Decius.
