Offered here, a very nice example of the German craft movement's version of a Norwegian Bride's Box. In America this would have been called a band box, not made of slabs but of a single thin sheet bent into an oval. The sheet is joined with wood "ribbon". The floor is attached with wood pegs. This measures 18 3/8" long diameter, 11 1/4" short diameter, and 7 1/2" high. This particular box is beautifully painted with a tulip motif. The lid is sound and fits well. The litho picture on top shows children in the barnyard. There are small stress cracks on parts of the very bottom as shown. These do not move, they are hard to see, and they don't affect the solid way the box sits. Thanks for looking into my auctions.
