RAL 7021 Dark Gray Color Guide: RAL 7021 Dark Gray (Dunkelgrau Nr. 46) was introduced in 1937 to supersede Reichswer Feldgrau Nr. 3 paint for German AFV camouflage. RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau Nr. 46 was used for two-color camouflage of German armor in the 1937-1940s, which in addition to Dunkelgrau also suggested blotches RAL 7017 Nr. 45 Dunkelbraun. In July 1940 this scheme was canceled by Heeresmitteilung Nr. 864, and RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau 840 B2 Nr. 46 became the uniform color of German vehicles. This one-color dark gray camouflage scheme was in effect until 1943 when it was replaced by RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb as the new unified camouflage color.
