1848 USA Large One Cent Coin Braided Hair Octagonal Shaped. Civil War Coin Interesting, it looks like an actual US Large Cent that was hammered into an octagonal shape, this appears to be something they did. I believe from what I can read that these were also civil war related badges. Repurposed coins are a very well known thing and counterstamping was also a thing in the Uk around George III.
