He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on Jan. 9, 1840, and lived in that city as a lawyer. Morse also authored 'Banks and Banking', 'Arbitration and Award' and 'Famous Trials. His most famous prose works are the "Breakfast-Table" series, which began with The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table (1858).
