He was most likely the first importer of Bohemian porcelain into the US. The son, Charles Jules Ahrenfeldt (1857-1934), took over the porcelain factory in 1894, upon his father's death. In 1896 he built a porcelain factory in the Montjovis district of Limoges.

Lovely set of 2 Laure Japy Paris, Limoges porcelain service or charger plates. The vibrant and colorful pattern is Jardin Bleu. This line was introduced in 1997 and discontinued in 2008. Each measures 11-3/4" in diameter. They are marked on bottoms. Both are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. No utensil marks.

Theodore left to establish his own firm in 1892. Charles Edward continued Haviland & Co. until his death in 1921. The underglaze mark (in green) on this is mark #12 (Mary Frank Gaston’s Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition) which was used from 1894-1931.
