Für das Ouija gibt es verschiedene weitere Bezeichnungen wie etwa Hexenbrett, Alphabettafel, Witchboard, Seelenschreiber und Talking Board. Der okkult klingende Namen geht vermutlich auf die Kombination des französischen „Oui“ mit dem deutschen „Ja“ zurück.
